The Kruger National Park, the same size as Israel, is the most loved and famous of all South Africa’s national parks.
It offers large numbers and wide varieties of animals, birdlife and incredible bio-diversity across its numerous eco systems.
This is the home of the Big Five and a vast number of award winning safari lodges, offering everything from personal guided walking safaris, to top end, specialist photographically equipped open vehicle game drives.
The choice of accommodation varies from authentic tented camps built on wooden decks, to 5 star hilltop lodges with views over waterholes, and huge suites with private plunge pools and viewing decks looking over waterholes, river bends and meadows that are frequented by wildlife.
Many private reserves were built along the National Park's boundaries in the last 30 years, and have now dropped their fences with the National Park itself, restoring ancient migration routes, and free roaming movement of wildlife, with huge success in what is now called the Greater Kruger.
Sabi-Sands, Timbavati, Balule, Mala Mala and Klaserie are some of the names that are synonymous with some of the best safari experiences this continent has to offer.
Although the Kruger National Park is an area referred to as the “lowveld” or flat African savannah, it has a range of mountains along its eastern border with Mozambique and a series of canyons and waterfalls that tumble from the high ridges on the western side. Among these are the Blyde River Canyon, which is the largest green canyon on earth, and worth a 1 or 2 night detour to enjoy a full Kruger and Canyon experience.
June to October are the best to see the big cats.
October to February are excellent for seeing birds, with November to January being the peak months.
October to November are best for new offspring as impala, kudu, buffalo, elephant, zebra, giraffe and many more give birth.
November to March are the hot, at times wet months, and when The Greater Kruger is lush and green and teeming with life. During these months, the risk of malaria increases and it is essential to take Malaria prophylaxis. In the north, the Baobab trees look most impressive during the dry winter season from May to August.
The southern winter means that malaria is at low risk, because of the dry weather. The nights can be chilly with warm days at times sufficiently so to swim at some of the camps with pools. The grass and bushveld looks dry and uninteresting. At times fires will burn parts of the savannah, but it has the positive effect of bringing about new growth which attracts the grazers amongst the wildlife.

In terms of Kosher, our company has built and extended a growing network of Kosher kitchens, which are set up for full Milchik and Fleischik catering, overseen by international and local Kosher chefs who have trained and equipped the local staff to perform the best fresh Glatt Kosher catering available in all of Africa.
Being remotely located, there is no permanent Jewish population nearby, and the choice is between self-supervision of a local chef, who follows the preparation and separation rules strictly, and always uses new utensils, pots and pans. A separated Kosher ingredient section of cold stores and dry stores is set up.
One of our freelance/private Mashgichim can be flown in from Johannesburg to provide the additional layer of assurance and supervision for the local chefs, if requested by the guest. Larger family groups may opt for our freelance Kosher chefs, a Mashgiach, and small team of assitants to drive from Johannesburg to do a camp takeover and prepare delicious Glatt Kosher meals deep in the safari regions around Kruger.
